The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention discloses a sustainable keratin-based cosmetic cream formulation utilizing high-purity keratin extracted from waste chicken feather biomass. The method involves collecting, washing, degreasing, and drying feathers, followed by alkaline hydrolysis, dialysis purification, and freeze-drying to obtain bioactive keratin. The keratin is incorporated into a stable oil-in-water emulsion cream composed of stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, glycerol monostearate, coconut oil, polysorbate 80, glycerin, xanthan gum, citric acid, benzyl alcohol, and fragrance. The final formulation demonstrates excellent moisturization, improved skin elasticity, and effects while maintaining long-term physicochemical and microbial stability. The cream is dermatologically safe, as confirmed in in-vivo testing, non-greasy, and rapidly absorbent, making it suitable for all skin types. This invention offers an eco-friendly, cost-effective, value-added utilization of poultry waste in personal care applications, addressing environmental sustainability and rising consumer demand for natural skincare solutions."
