MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517065857 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on July 10, for 'method and device for sharing security key on basis of multi-access point operation in wireless lan system.'

Inventor(s) include Baek, Sunhee; Chun, Jinyoung; Choi, Jinsoo; and Jang, Insun.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method and a device for sharing a security key on the basis of a multi-access point (AP) operation in a wireless LAN system are disclosed. The method performed by means of a first station (STA) in a wireless LAN system, according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, may comprise steps in which: the first STA generates a multi-access point group temporal key (MAGTK); and the MAGTK encrypted on the basis of a key shared between the first STA and one or more second STAs is transmitted to the one or more second STAs. The secret key for a third STA is encrypted on the basis of the MAGTK, and can be shared with the first STA and the one or more second STAs."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 21, 2023, under International application No.PCT/KR2023/021258.
