MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411028920 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, New Delhi, on April 9, 2024, for 'method and system for speed control of a three-phase squirrel cage induction motor.'

Inventor(s) include Jain, Amit Kumar; and Swami, Himanshu.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a method (100) and a system (200) for speed control of a three-phase squirrel cage induction motor. The method (100) includes measuring and filtering (102) the speed of a shaft of the three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor, controlling (104) the speed of the three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor based on the measured speed of the shaft and generating (106) one or more modulating signals for the motor by calculating product of a stator angular frequency with its time constant and a rotor angular frequency with its time constant. Further, the method (100) includes converting (108) the one or more modulating signals obtained by calculation of the product of the stator angular frequency with its time constant and the rotor angular frequency with its time constant to one or more two-phase modulating signals and converting (110) the one or more two-phase modulating signals to one or more three-phase modulating signals by a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) inverter."
