MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517044991 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on May 9, for 'method device and program for predicting change in shape of press formed article and method for manufacturing press formed article.'

Inventor(s) include Urabe Masaki; Nakamoto Taira; and Fujii Yusuke.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This method for predicting a change in the shape of a press molded article includes: a step (S1) for acquiring stress and strain in a press molded article at the bottom dead center of forming; a step (S3) for acquiring residual stress and strain in the press molded article immediately after springback; a step (S5) for acquiring a stress relaxation amount that reflects a stress strain change history before and after springback adding the acquired stress relaxation amount to the value of the residual stress in the press molded article immediately after springback and setting a post stress relation residual stress; and a step (S7) for obtaining a shape of the press molded article in which the post stress relaxation residual stress has been set in which moments of force are balanced."
