MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517057601 A) filed by Essilor International, Charenton-le-Pont, France, on June 16, for 'method for additively manufacturing an ophthalmic device and manufacturing system configured to carry out such a method.'

Inventor(s) include Lecompere, Maxime; Leite, Pierre; and Divo, Fabien.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure provides a method for additively manufacturing an ophthalmic device (2) to be worn by a wearer (60), the method comprising: additively manufacturing a plurality of layers (3) of a predetermined material in order to obtain the ophthalmic device, and determining a build inclination angle so that to direct diffracted rays (70) of a beam of light (71) on a dedicated zone located outside a zone of a retina of an eye of the wearer useful for vision when the ophthalmic device is worn by the wearer."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 12, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/085244.
