MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124779 A) filed by Baba Farid College Of Engineering And Technology; and Baba Farid College, Bathinda, Punjab, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'method for automated electromagnetic-assisted side stand retraction in two-wheelers.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Manpreet Singh; Dr. Manish Kumar Singla; Dr. Amandeep Singh; Mr. Chand Parkash; Dr. Gagandeep Singh; Er. Hardeep Singh; and Dr. Jimmy Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed method (200) for electromagnetic-assisted side stand retraction in two-wheelers comprises detecting engagement of a drive gear of the two-wheeler and subsequently detecting a no-load condition to ensure no contact of the side stand (104) with ground. The method (200) further generates an activation signal only when both drive-gear engagement and no-load condition are satisfied. The method (200) further energizes an electromagnetic coil (106). The method (200) further retracts a locking pin of the electromagnetic-assisted pin mechanism (108) from a locked position that mechanically holds the side stand (104) in a deployed condition. The method (200) further generates a roll-axis rotational motion by action of a pre-loaded spring (110) to retract the side stand (104). Furthermore, the method (200) monitors the movement of the side stand (104) and initiates a retraction-failure response to disable the ignition system of the two-wheeler to prevent vehicle operation under an unsafe condition."
