MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517058087 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on June 17, for 'method for manufacturing lithium secondary battery.'

Inventor(s) include Jo, Youngseong; Kang, Hyeyeon; Kang, Bohyun; Jang, Daeun; Sung, Kiwon; and Park, Jinseo.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a lithium secondary battery, comprising the steps of: preparing a battery cell comprising a cathode, an anode and an electrolyte, the cathode containing an overlithiated manganese-based oxide in which the amount of manganese among all the metals, excluding lithium, exceeds 50 mol%, and the ratio (Li/Me) of the mole of lithium to the mole of all the metals, excluding lithium, exceeds 1; and charging and discharging the battery cell at least once, thereby activating same, wherein when the battery cell is charged to 2.0-4.3 V, the ratio (N/P ratio) of the discharge capacity per unit area of the anode to the discharge capacity per unit area of the cathode is 1.05-1.15, and, in the activation step, charging is carried out up to an SOC of 60-65."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 21, 2023, under International application No.PCT/KR2023/021256.
