MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517044556 A) filed by Agricultural Corporation Maikoworld Co. Ltd., Gyeongsangnam, Republic of Korea, on May 8, for 'method for manufacturing vegetable tanned leather using mushroom mycelium.'

Inventor(s) include Kim Eun Young.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing vegetable tanned leather using mushroom mycelium the method being characterized by comprising: a first step of preparing a net structure fabric; a second step of impregnating the fabric into a mixed solution; a third step of removing the mixed solution and sterilizing and cooling the fabric; a fourth step of inoculating the fabric with mushrooms; a fifth step of cultivating the mushrooms on the fabric; a sixth step of drying and pressing the fabric to produce same at a desired height; and a seventh step of mixing a resin and mushroom mycelium powder with the fabric and coating same."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 13, 2022, under International application No.PCT/KR2022/015510.
