According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method for operating a driver assistance system (3) concerning at least longitudinal guidance of a motor vehicle (1), comprising: providing (S2) sensor information (22) describing at least one other motor vehicle (20) located ahead of the motor vehicle (1) in a direction of travel (18) of the motor vehicle (1); determining (S3) hazard warning light information (24) describing whether or not the at least one other motor vehicle (20) has an activated hazard warning light, by applying a hazard warning light recognition criterion (23) to the provided sensor information (22); if the at least one other motor vehicle (20) has the activated hazard warning light in accordance with the determined hazard warning light information (24), increasing (S5) a time difference value (25), describing a maximum time difference between a trigger time of a function of the driver assistance system (3) and a collision point of a predicted collision between the motor vehicle (1) and an obstacle in surroundings of the motor vehicle (1), by a predefined time interval (26); and operating (S6) the driver assistance system (3) taking into consideration the increased time difference value (25)."
