MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641018978 A) filed by Daimler Truck Ag; and Indian Institute Of Science, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, on Feb. 19, for 'method for performing cell balancing in a set of battery modules and a circuit thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Saurabh Shah; Shahrukh Khan; Vidya Valsan; Sumedh Amrutrao Awathare; Vishnu Mahadeva Iyer; and Vinod John.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein are a method and a circuit for performing cell balancing in a set of 5 battery modules. The method comprises determining at least one of a cell voltage value and a state of charge (SOC) value of each of the plurality of cells. Further, the method comprises determining at least one of an average cell voltage value and an average SOC value of the plurality of cells. Further, the method comprises determining at least one of a set of cell voltage threshold values and a set of SOC threshold values. Further, the 10 method comprises correlating at least one of the determined cell voltage values with the set of cell voltage threshold values and the determined SOC values with the set of SOC threshold values. Further, the method comprises, based on the correlation, performing dynamic cell balancing for the plurality of cells of the set of battery modules."
