MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202544001607 A) filed by Nokia Technologies Oy, Espoo, Finland, on Jan. 7, for 'method for positioning of ambient iot devices with backscattering capability.'

Inventor(s) include Hyun-Su Cha; and Abdurrahman Fouda.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A network node including at least one processor; and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed with the at least one processor, cause the network node to perform: providing at least part of a first reference signal configuration to a user equipment and an internet of things device; receiving a first reference signal from the user equipment; receiving a backscattered signal of the first reference signal from the internet of things device; and determining that a specific detected signal path of the first reference signal is the received backscattered signal from the internet of things device based, at least partially, upon the first reference signal configuration; and at least one of: providing a positioning measurement for the internet of things device to a location management function, and determining the positioning measurement for the internet of things device."
