MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517081266 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Aug. 27, for 'method for predicting lifespan of coke oven battery.'

Inventor(s) include Fukushima Yasumasa.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a lifespan prediction method that is for a coke oven battery and that is capable of predicting the lifespan of the coke oven battery. This lifespan prediction method that is for a coke oven battery and that predicts the lifespan of the coke oven battery involves: measuring the shape of the oven wall of a carbonization chamber 14 included in the coke oven battery by using a shape measurement device to thereby identify a projection portion 34 that projects further inside than an initial position based on the hot dimensions of a coke oven during construction thereof; measuring, for the projection portion 34, the shape of the oven wall multiple times at different dates and times to thereby obtain a regression expression indicating the correspondence relationship between time and the amount of projection; calculating a date and time when the amount of projection calculated by the regression expression is equal to a predetermined threshold value to thereby predict the usable period of the carbonization chamber 14; and predicting the lifespan of the coke oven battery on the basis of the predicted usable period of the carbonization chamber 14."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 15, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/009965.
