MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517045105 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on May 9, for 'method for predicting width of rough rolled material method for controlling width of rough rolled material method for producing hot rolled steel sheet and method for generating width prediction model for rough rolled material.'
Inventor(s) include Hinata Kosuke; Sato Shusuke; and Takashima Yukio.
The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a method for predicting the width of a rough rolled material in a hot rolling line which includes a heating furnace that heats a slab a width reduction press device that intermittently reduces the width of the heated slab a rough rolling device that performs rough rolling on the width reduced slab to produce a rough rolled material and a finishing rolling device that performs finishing rolling on the rough rolled material to produce a hot rolled steel sheet said method comprising a step for predicting a width distribution in the lengthwise direction of the rough rolled material using a width prediction model which is trained by machine learning which includes as input data one or more operation parameters selected from operation parameters of the width reduction press device and one or more operation parameters selected from operation parameters of the rough rolling device and which outputs as output data information pertaining to the width distribution in the lengthwise direction of the rough rolled material."
The patent application was internationally filed on Sept. 15, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/033757.
