MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431035482 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on May 4, 2024, for 'method for preparation of crop residue-based multi nutrient composition for bio-fortification.'
Inventor(s) include Prof. Jagmohan Lal Gulati; Prof. Priyabrata Pattanaik; Dr. Subhaprada Dash; Dr. Hara Prasada Tripathy; and Prof. Dilip Kumar Mishra.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for preparation of crop residue-based multi nutrient composition for bio-fortification comprises the steps collecting crop residues of rice, maize and groundnut from homogenous field of respective crops at time of harvest followed by mixing properly to achieve consolidated composite sample of each crop, subjecting each of the sample of crop to proper sun drying for time duration in range of 45-50 hours, followed by burning samples with fire in earthen pot under open space, crop-wise and collecting ash separately, drawing 5-10 g of ash from each composite sample of ash and grounding thoroughly by using mortar and pestle for time duration in range of 50-70 minutes to obtain grounded ash, drawing 1-3g of grounded ash crop wise sample separately and mixing properly layer-wise with repeated steps to obtain ash mixture and subjecting the ash mixture to calcination using muffle furnace to obtain crop residue-based multi nutrient composition."
