MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517051369 A) filed by Osaka Shinyaku Co. Ltd., Yamaguchi, Japan, on May 28, for 'method for producing anthracene-9-carboxylic acid, and reaction mixture.'

The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "[Problem] To provide: a reaction mixture containing a salt of anthracene-9-carboxylic acid that is friendly to the human body and the environment by a reaction system that does not use heavy metals, transition metals, etc., and suppresses the generation of 9,10-anthraquinone, an undesirable by-product; a production process therefor; and a simple, industrially practicable production method for said anthracene-9-carboxylic acid that is free of heavy metals, transition metals, etc. [Solution] One method for producing anthracene-9-carboxylic acid of the present invention includes a first reaction step in which 9-anthraldehyde is reacted with at least one selected from the group consisting of sodium tert-butoxide and potassium tert-butoxide in an inert solvent of -15 C to 10 C inclusive."
