MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202414104572 A) filed by Tokuyama Corporation, Yamaguchi, Japan, on Dec. 30, 2024, for 'method for producing biotin derivative.'

Inventor(s) include Hiroyuki, Mori; Yasushi, Shimoda; Tatsuru, Hayashi; and Keisuke, Matsuura.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a biotin derivative, which makes it possible to reduce the amount of an optical isomer and produce a biotin derivative at a high conversion rate, and the present invention provides a method for producing a biotin derivative, including contacting, in a solvent containing 40 vol.% or more of a strong acid having an acid dissociation constant pKa of 1 or less, one or more derivatives selected from the group consisting of a hydroxybiotin derivative represented by formula (1) and a vinylbiotin derivative represented by formula (2), a trialkylsilane compound, and a Lewis acid with one another to produce a biotin derivative represented by formula (3)."
