MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056849 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on June 13, for 'method for producing grain-oriented electrical steel sheet.'

Inventor(s) include Matsubara Ryo; and Ushigami Yoshiyuki.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This method for producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet comprises a hot-rolling step, a hot-rolled sheet annealing step which is performed as needed, a cold-rolling step, a decarburization annealing step, an annealing separating agent application step, a nitriding step, and a finish annealing step. The finish annealing step has a temperature-raising process and a soaking process, and a temperature gradient of 0.5 C/cm or more is created in the boundary region of a primary recrystallization region and a secondary recrystallization region at a time at least between the beginning of secondary recrystallization and the end of the secondary recrystallization in the temperature-raising process. The nitriding step is carried out by annealing in an atmosphere containing a gas with nitriding ability during at least one stage during the decarburization annealing step, between the decarburization annealing step and the finish annealing step, or up to the beginning of the secondary recrystallization which is the temperature-raising process of the finish annealing step, and the mass-based nitrogen level of the steel sheet after the nitriding step is made to be 210 ppm or more."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 18, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/001245.
