MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441007549 A) filed by Gnanam Bioimmune Llp, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 5, 2024, for 'method for producing resin-bound natural fibre/ particle boards with nano clay metal and benzalkonium chloride.'
Inventor(s) include M. Gopalakrishnan; and V. Sridhar.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a method for producing resilient resin-bound natural fibre/particle board (e.g. Coir) using nano clay copper or cupronickel nanoparticles and nano clay benzalkonium chloride. This infusion aims to enhance the board's physical and mechanical strength, durability, corrosion resistance by 50-60% and also induces antimicrobial, anti-fungal and insecticidal properties. Furthermore, the present invention involves adding certain additives such as zinc borate or any other similar chemicals in combination with nano clay copper/cupronickel particles, for fire-retardant and water-resistance purposes. These combined properties make the present invention highly versatile and potentially replace wood in various industries such as electronics, healthcare, material engineering, packaging/logistics supply chain industry as pallets, furniture, roofing, acoustic panels, automotive, construction and crafts."
