MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517034865 A) filed by Tsubota Laboratory Inc., Tokyo, on April 9, for 'method for treating and inhibiting progress of retinal degeneration using violet light and device used in said method.'
Inventor(s) include Tsubota Kazuo; Ban Norimitsu; and Kurihara Toshihide.
The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a method for treating age related macular degeneration or retinal degeneration such as hereditary retinal degeneration by photic stimulation in which light in a specific wavelength range such as violet light is radiated at a specific blink frequency and a device that is used in the method. In the present invention by radiating light in a specific wavelength range such as violet light to an organism at least one symptom selected from the group consisting of reduced visual acuity metamorphopsia central scotoma and complete loss of eyesight is improved or suppressed and age related macular degeneration or retinal degeneration such as hereditary retinal degeneration is treated and/or prevented."
The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 27, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/038940.
