MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517067554 A) filed by Alencar, Marta Joffily De, Rio de Janeiro, on July 15, for 'method for treating human waste by organic matter dehydration and waterless sanitary apparatus.'

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The proposed invention relates to a waterless sanitary apparatus that employs microwaves to treat and dehydrate human waste. Externally, it resembles an ordinary toilet, with a modern and sleek shape. Instead of receiving the waste in water, the organic matter is collected in a waste receptacle and dehydrated in situ within the toilet itself by a UHF radiation source. The waste turned into powder is collected for use in agriculture as fertiliser, while the gases are filtered to eliminate odours and can be released into the environment."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 08, 2023, under International application No.PCT/BR2023/050083.
