MUMBAI, India, Dec. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311037708 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on May 31, 2023, for 'method of coating on metallic substrates.'
Inventor(s) include Ravi K. R.; Aiswarya Sahu; and Vritant Kumar Khairwar.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 6, under issue no. 49/2024.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method providing self-cleaning superhydrophobic coating using HVOF spraying on the metallic substrate followed by post-treatment with low surface energy material is disclosed. The HVOF coating is temperature-corrosion-abrasion resistant with durability. Further, a viable technique for an efficient self-cleaning fabrication suitable for industrial scale-up is elucidated. The HVOF coating shows environmental and mechanical strength. The superhydrophobic coating can be applied to various surfaces involved in extreme-temperature applications, such as reactors, heat exchangers, tanks, vessels, turbines airplanes, pipelines, etc."
