Intellectual Property India Publishes Patent Application for 'Method Of Decoding/Encoding Image And Method Of Transmitting Bitstream' Filed by B1 Institute Of Image Technology, Inc.

MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202518085195 A) filed by B1 Institute Of Image Technology, Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Sept. 8, for 'method of decoding/encoding image and method of transmitting bitstream.'

Inventor(s) include Kim, Ki Baek.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is an image data encoding/decoding method and apparatus. A method for decoding a 360-degree image comprises the steps of: receiving a bitstream obtained by encoding a 360-degree image; generating a prediction image by making reference to syntax information obtained from the received bitstream; combining the generated prediction image with a residual image 10 obtained by dequantizing and inverse-transforming the bitstream, so as to obtain a decoded image; and reconstructing the decoded image into a 360- degree image according to a projection format."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 10, 2017, under International application No.PCT/KR2017/011149.
