MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517081609 A) filed by Imagion Biosystems, Inc., San Diego, on Aug. 28, for 'method to assess nodal disease using iron oxide nanoparticles in magnetic resonance imaging.'
Inventor(s) include Lau, Wing, Fai; Zhang, Marie; Proulx, Robert; Jayalakshmi, Yalia; and Yang, Natalie.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to a method to assess nodal disease by magnetic resonance imaging with a contrast agent. The contrast agent comprises biofunctional magnetic nanoparticles coated with polymers outside the iron core and conjugated with antibodies specific to the tumor type to be assessed. Images produced from this magnetic resonance imaging with a contrast agent show heterogenous hypo intensity or heterogenous architecture in regions where binding by the antibodies is present."
The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 02, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/014345.
