Intellectual Property India Publishes Patent Application for 'Methods And Compositions For Administering Otoferlin Dual Vector Systems' Filed by Decibel Therapeutics, Inc.

MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547086477 A) filed by Decibel Therapeutics, Inc., Boston, on Sept. 11, for 'methods and compositions for administering otoferlin dual vector systems.'

Inventor(s) include Hu, Qi-Ying; Keifer, Orion, Paul, Jr.; Koehler, Seth; Lee, John; Palermo, Adam; Pan, Ning; Sellon, Jonathan, B.; and Whitton, Jonathon.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure features compositions and methods for the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss and auditory neuropathy, particularly forms of the disease that are associated with a mutation in otoferlin (OTOF), by way of OTOF gene therapy. The disclosure provides a variety of compositions that include a first nucleic acid vector that contains a polynucleotide encoding an N-terminal portion of an OTOF protein (e.g., an OTOF isoform 5 protein) and a second nucleic acid vector that contains a polynucleotide encoding a C-terminal portion of an OTOF protein (e.g., an OTOF isoform 5 protein). These vectors can be used to increase the expression of OTOF in a subject, such as a human subject suffering from sensorineural hearing loss."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 16, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/016218.
