MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311082484 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on Dec. 4, 2023, for 'methods and systems for determining an intent of user touch operation on an earbud.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method (1600) and a system (100) to determine an intent of a user touch operation on a pair of earbuds is disclosed. The method includes identifying a position and an orientation of each earbud. The method also includes calculating a level of disengagement of each earbud from the respective ear and classifying the user touch operation on at least one earbud as one of a transient time based user touch operation or a non-transient time based user touch operation. The method further includes determining whether the intent of the user touch operation is related with one of a functional control operation on the at least one earbud or a positional adjustment of the at least one earbud and applying the functional control of the at least one earbud upon a determination that the user touch operation is related with the functional control operation."
