MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411017504 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 11, 2024, for 'mobility system for physically disabled and elderly.'

Inventor(s) include Prakhar Singh Chauhan; Sparsh Mehta; and Dr. Harmeet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A mobility system for physically disabled and elderly, comprising an elongated platform 1 installed on a ground surface in a public place, plurality of chairs 2 are installed on the body for accommodating elderly and physically disabled person, plurality of elongated members 3 equidistantly installed near platform 1 and each crafted with a push- button 4 that is pressed by person for calling chair, a first 5 and second lever 6 are pulled down by person for sliding chair 2 in a first 5 and second direction, a motorized slider 7 configured with each of chair 2 for translating chair 2 on a sliding rail in first 5 or second direction, and an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 8 works in synchronization with an ultrasonic sensor to detect an obstacle in path of chair 2 and if detected then slider 7 stops chair 2 for preventing collision with obstacle."
