MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025537 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'modular cane.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Shweta Lamba; Mandeep; Dr. Ranjan Sariyal; and Ishan Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular cane, comprising an elongated body 1 having a proximal and distal end, a handle 2 is fabricated on proximal end that is accessed by a user for positioning distal end on a ground surface, plurality of U-shaped members 3 arranged underneath body 1 for providing support to body 1 on surface, plurality of suction cups adhere surface for securing body 1 on surface, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 5 determines height of user, a telescopically operated rod 4 extends/retracts for positioning handle 2 near user hands, an ultrasonic sensor determines presence of an object in user's hands, plurality of curved flaps 6 via a motorized hinge joint for forming a circular structure in which user accommodates object on structure, a telescopically operated link 7 extends/retracts for providing a support to plates for assisting user to transport objects with ease while walking."
