MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641019346 A) filed by Bapatla Surendra Babu, Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, on Feb. 19, for 'modular hybrid contraceptive device with integrated acoustic sperm motility sensor for post-use efficacy verification.'
Inventor(s) include Bapatla Surendra Babu.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a "Smart Contraceptive" for efficacy verification. A disposable barrier film (20) contains an embedded passive acoustic resonator layer (30). Post-use, the user scans the barrier with a smartphone (50) emitting ultrasonic waves (40-100 kHz). If motile sperm have breached the barrier, their flagellar beating (10-50 Hz) creates periodic scattering variations, modulating the reflected signal amplitude. This generates detectable spectral sidebands. The system provides immediate, private, and non-contact verification of contraceptive success with a sensitivity of 10^3 cells/mL."
