MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024855 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'modular igniter for fire-crackers.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Anuradha Bhandari; Dr. Ramanpreet Kaur; Shivansh Namdev; and Pavan Kumar Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular igniter for fire-crackers, comprising a body 1 positioned in proximity to a vertical support, an ultrasonic sensor embedded on the body 1 for determining distance of support from the body 1, a pair of telescopically operated rods 2 integrated on the body 1 for positioning a suction unit 3 integrated on the rods 2 to adhere the body 1 on the support, a microphone integrated in the body 1 to receive input commands of time-duration, plurality of iris lids 5 arranged on the body 1 to insert firecracker's wick inside the body 1, a motorized roller 6 arranged in the body 1 for wrapping the inserted wick on the roller 6, a motorized sliding unit 7 arranged in the body 1 to translate a heating coil 8 close to wrapped wick to ignite the wick in order to burst the firecracker as per the user-specified time duration."
