MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004731 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 23, 2024, for 'modular workpiece joining assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular workpiece joining assistive device, comprising a frame 1 having multiple telescopically operated bars 2, positioned by a user over a first workpiece, a handle 3 providing grip to user while placing frame 1 on first workpiece, Upon detecting placement of frame 1 on first workpiece by means of a touch sensor, and synchronously directs an electromagnetic strip 4 for magnetizing to secure frame 1 on first workpiece, a touch interactive display panel 5 accessed input details regarding joint that user desires to form after joining first workpiece with second workpiece, multiple motorized hinge joints 6 providing movement to bars 2 in a manner that allows changing of frame 1's shape, and a tactile sensor detecting hardness of workpiece(s) for evaluating type of welding that is displayed over display panel 5."
