MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517096621 A) filed by Interdigital Ce Patent Holdings, Sas, Paris, on Oct. 7, for 'most probable modes list.'
Inventor(s) include Reuze, Kevin; Naser, Karam; Chen, Ya; and Dumas, Thierry.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Systems, devices, and methods are described herein for generating and reordering of a most probable mode list for intra prediction. For example, a device for video decoding and/or video encoding may determine an intra prediction mode associated with a neighboring block, e.g., based on a template- based intra mode derivation (TIMD) and/or a decoder side intra mode derivation (DIMD). The device may determine whether the intra prediction mode associated with the neighboring block is the same as a candidate mode on a most probable mode (MPM) list. Based on a determination that the intra prediction mode is the same as the candidate mode, the device may adjust a weight associated with the candidate mode. Based on the adjusted weight associated with the candidate mode, the device may reorder the MPM list based. The device may encode/decode the current block based on the MPM list."
The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 25, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/057933.
