MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511133363 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'multi- purpose detachable scissors for multi-functional fabric cutting applications.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Aanchal Trehan; and Mahboob Anwer.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a modular, detachable multi-purpose scissors specifically engineered for diverse fabric-cutting needs in fashion design, tailoring, and upholstery. The scissors consists of interchangeable blades and ergonomic detachable handles that allow users to switch between straight-cut blades, zig-zag blades, micro-serrated blades, and heavy-duty cutters without replacing the entire tool. The quick release locking mechanism enables safe attachment and detachment while maintaining cutting stability. This design reduces tool clutter, improves efficiency, and offers precision cutting for a wide variety of textiles and technical fabrics. The invention provides a cost-effective, versatile, and space-saving solution for students, designers, tailors, and industry professionals."
