MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025240 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research; and Meenakshi Ammal Dental College And Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 3, for 'multifunctional dental spatula for quantitative cement dispensing and mixing.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to dental hand instruments and discloses a dual-purpose dental spatula for precise cement measurement and mixing. The spatula comprises a central handle having a first distal end configured as a calibrated measuring scoop with a recessed cavity, etched calibration markings, and a leveling lip for dispensing predetermined volumes of dental cement powder or liquid, and a second distal end configured as a flat, tapered, flexible mixing blade for homogenizing cement components on a mixing surface. The handle, measuring scoop, and mixing blade are integrally formed from medical-grade stainless steel to ensure structural rigidity and sterilization compatibility. The integrated configuration enables both volumetric dispensing and mixing using a single instrument for preparation of dental cements in restorative, prosthodontic, orthodontic, and laboratory procedures."
