MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123023 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'multimodal autism detection system using behavioral and facial image analysis.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. J. Saira Banu; Vinayak Goyal; and Ashish Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a multimodal autism spectrum disorder detection system. The system includes a data acquisition module configured to receive behavioral data from autism screening questionnaires and facial image data from digital imaging devices. A preprocessing module processes the behavioral data by handling missing values, encoding categorical variables, and scaling numerical features, and processes the facial image data by resizing images, normalizing pixel values, and applying data augmentation techniques. A behavioral analysis module includes a neural network configured to generate behavioral classification probabilities from the preprocessed behavioral data. An image analysis module includes a convolutional neural network configured to generate image-based classification probabilities from the preprocessed facial image data. A fusion module combines the behavioral and image-based classification probabilities using fusion strategies. An output module generates a final autism spectrum disorder classification based on the combined probabilities."
