MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010716 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 15, 2024, for 'nail grooming device.'

Inventor(s) include Shreshta Bandhu Rastogi.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A nail grooming device, comprising an inverted U-shaped frame 1 and configured with a pair of curved members 2 inserted underneath nail for securing frame 1, a threaded shaft 3 passes through a hole 4 carved within frame 1 and equipped with a curved extendable unit 5 for supporting frame 1, a camera 6 for detecting dimensions of nail based on which unit 5 extends, a motor 7 for rotating shaft 3 to position unit 5 over nail for frame 1, a pair of motorized hinges 8 for tilting members 2 towards nail to create gap, an L-shaped telescopically operated link 10 for inserting a pin 9 in gap, a motorized pivot joint 11 move pin 9 to remove dirt from gap, a computing unit accessed by user for feeding command for cutting nails, and a robotic arm 12 equipped with a nail cutter 13 for cutting the nail."
