MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521053417 A) filed by D. Y. Patil Education Society, Kolhapur, India, on June 2, for 'nanoparticles based hydrogel for dental caries prevention.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Shivaji Bhikaji Kashte; Mr. Shahabaj Shamshuddin Mujawar; Ms. Abhilasha Avinash Yadav; Dr. Vishwajeet Mahipati Khot; Dr. Satish Sambhaji Phalake; and Prof. Chandrakant Dnyandev Lokhande.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The innovation concerns a hydrogel comprising tragacanth gum-chitosan-manganese iron oxide nanoparticles. The hydrogel shows bioiilm inhibition ofE. coli, S. mutans (dental caries causing bacteria), and S. aureus. It inhibits demineralization and promotes reminerahzation. This hydrogel can be used for dental caries prevention."
