MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517036975 A) filed by Uop Llc, Des Plaines, U.S.A., on April 16, for 'naphtha to ethane and propane unit with hydrogen slip.'

Inventor(s) include Senetar, John J.; and Nauert, Scott L.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A process for making ethylene from a hydrocarbon feed requires separating the hydrocarbon feed comprising ethane, hydrogen, and/or methane and hydrocarbons with 3 or greater carbons into an ethane-rich stream comprising hydrocarbons with (2) or less carbons and a heavy stream comprising hydrocarbons with (3) or more carbons. The ethane-rich stream is passed to a process which produces ethylene. The ethane-rich stream has an ethane to combined hydrogen and methane molar ratio of at least 1.2 and less than or equal to (10)."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 10, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/079373.
