MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088505 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 23, 2023, for 'navigation assistive device for visually impaired.'

Inventor(s) include Bhawna Saraswat.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A navigation assistive device for visually impaired comprises of a body 1 configured with pair of plates 2 connected with each other via a hinge, a microphone 3 accessed by a user to input comma ds regarding name of a doctor to be consulted by the user, a communication module for accessing a server of hospital for fetching timings and exact location of a cabin within the hospital, plurality of pneumatic pins 4 for creating a braille pattern corresponding to fetched timings of the doctor for allowing user to determine the fetched timings of the doctor by touching the pins 4, a GPS (Global Positioning Device) module for detecting exact location coordinates of the user, a camera 6 for detecting obstacle in surroundings, a speaker 5 for notifying user regarding the detected obstacle and an OCR to provide prescription to the user."
