MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517011979 A) filed by Orpia Innovation; and Avignon Universite, Paris, on Feb. 12, for 'new method for preparing cashew nut shell oil.'

Inventor(s) include Roy, Audrey; Briou, Benoit; Caillet, Catherine; and Chemat Farid.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to the use, for carrying out a method for extracting, using a solvent, an extract containing or consisting of a natural or technical CNSL oil and optionally tannins from cashew nut shells, in particular ground cashew nut shells, of continuous injection into an extractor of cashew nut shells, in particular ground cashew nut shells, constituting the extraction material, involving the passage of the extraction material from the inlet of the extractor enclosure to the outlet of the extractor enclosure, the injection being carried out against the direction of flow of the solvent, the extraction material forming a porous system with the solvent. The invention also relates to the corresponding method."

The patent application was internationally filed on July 07, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/068928.
