MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611025009 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 3, for 'non-invasive saliva-based biosensor strip for simultaneous detection of glucose and lactate.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Vishant Pal.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A smart saliva-based biosensor strip for non-invasive detection of glucose and lactate is disclosed. The strip comprises a biocompatible substrate having microfluidic channels configured to guide a saliva sample to electrochemical sensing regions. The sensing regions include enzyme-immobilized electrodes, wherein glucose oxidase and lactate oxidase selectively catalyze reactions of glucose and lactate to generate measurable electrical signals. The signals are processed by integrated electronic circuitry and converted into quantitative concentration values. The biosensor strip is configured for single-use and provides results within one to three minutes. The invention enables simultaneous multi-analyte detection using saliva, eliminates the need for blood sampling, and is suitable for point-of-care, home healthcare, and metabolic monitoring applications."
