MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517044316 A) filed by Syngenta Crop Protection Ag, Basel, Switzerland, on May 7, for 'novel resistance genes associated with disease resistance in soybeans.'

Inventor(s) include Liu, Qingli; Chung, Euihwan; Farmer, Andrew David; Hipskind, John Daniel; Qin, Yinping Lucy; and Tan, Xiaoping.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Methods and compositions for identifying, selecting and/or producing a pathogen resistant plant, plant cell or seed (e.g., a legume or soybean plant, plant cell or seed) are provided. Polynucleotides and polypeptides are provided, which when expressed in a plant increase disease and/or pathogen resistance (e.g. to Asian Soy Rust and/or Powdery mildew) of the plant. Plants, plant cells and seed are provided comprising such polypeptides and polynucleotides, as are methods for their use."
