MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527033252 A) filed by Fraunhofer Gesellschaft Zur Forderung Der Angewandten Forschung E. V; and Universitat Leipzig, Munchen, Germany, on April 4, for 'novel rna biomarkers for diagnosis of prostate cancer.'

Inventor(s) include Reiche Kirstin; Horn Friedemann; Blumert Conny; Buschmann Tilo; Bartsch Sophie; Bertram Catharina; Wirth Manfred; Fussel Susanne; Frohner Michael; Kreuz Markus; and Otto Dominik.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention involves methods for the ex vivo diagnosis of prostate cancer comprising the steps of i) providing a sample from a patient suspected of having prostate cancer and ii) analysing the expression level of at least one newly identified biomarker for prostate cancer in the sample wherein if the expression level of said biomarker is above a threshold value the sample is designated as prostate cancer positive. Further the invention involves stringent sample and method quality control criteria to ensure a reliable and specific method of diagnosing prostate cancer."

The patent application was internationally filed on Sept. 04, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/074132.
