MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014312 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'object cutting assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Rajdeep Singh; Rachin Goyal; Ravinder Singh; and Saumil Aggarwal.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An object cutting assistive device, comprises of a pair of elongated bodies 1 crosslinked with each other by means of a pivot joint 2, wherein each proximal ends of the bodies 1 are crafted with a ring 3 to insert a thumb and finger within the ring 3 in order to grip the bodies 1 to position distal ends of the bodies 1 in proximity to an object to be cut, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 to determine dimension of the thumb and finger, a Light Emitting Diode (LED) to emit light in the surrounding to maintain appropriate visibility for the user, an iris unit 5 to retract in view of gripping the thumb and finger, a microphone 6 to receive voice command of the user, and an omnidirectional wheel 8 to position the wheel 8 over the object to cut the object appropriately."
