MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024177 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 26, 2024, for 'object relocating assistive device for staircase.'

Inventor(s) include Tumelo; Nanga Ele Christain; Sarabjit Singh; Kushdeep Rana; and Vikashdeep Singh Mann.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A object relocating assistive device for staircase, comprising a platform 1 positioned over a surface of a staircase by means of a pair of motorized wheels 2, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 determines dimension of object, an extendable flap 5 is deployed by a motorized hinge joint and extended by a motorized drawer arrangement 9 for creating a boundary around object, a pair of motorized rollers 6 tightens/loosens a strap 7 for securing object with platform 1, a shaft 8 installed beneath platform 1 by means of a motorized worm wheel arrangement 9 to provide rotation to shaft 8 on axis, plurality of hydraulic rods 10 configured with outer periphery of shaft 8 which extends and positions a suction cup 11 on staircase in order to lift platform 1 from staircase simultaneous to rotation of shaft 8 to provide translation to platform 1 over staircase."
