MUMBAI, India, March 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517011458 A) filed by Suntory Holdings Limited, Osaka, Japan, on Feb. 11, for 'oral composition, and method for suppressing bitterness originating from ergothioneine or salt thereof and odor originating from chondroitin sulfate or salt thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Funaki, Ayuta; Eguchi, Megumi; and Sugizaki, Miku.

The application for the patent was published on March 7, under issue no. 10/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention addresses the problem of providing an oral composition in which bitterness originating from ergothioneine or a salt thereof and an odor originating from chondroitin sulfate or a salt thereof are suppressed despite the oral composition containing ergothioneine or a salt thereof and chondroitin sulfate or a salt thereof. The present invention relates to an oral composition containing a component (A) and a component (B), namely, (A) ergothioneine or a salt thereof and (B) chondroitin sulfate or a salt thereof, in which the weight ratio ((B)/(A)) of the component (B) (in terms of chondroitin sulfate) to the component (A) (in terms of ergothioneine) is 2-60."
