MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517015247 A) filed by Nippon Paper Industries Co. Ltd., Tokyo, on Feb. 21, for 'paperboard and method for manufacturing same.'

Inventor(s) include Akiyama, Yusuke; Matsuno, Yuya; Fujimoto, Kota; and Kawasaki, Kentaro.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention addresses the problem of providing paperboard having excellent strength and printing quality. Provided as a solution is paperboard having a top layer, at least one middle layer, and a bottom layer and including at least 20 mass% of broad-leaved tree kraft pulp relative to the total pulp mass thereof, wherein: the top layer includes 50-100 mass% of needle-leaved tree kraft pulp; the compression energy is 2.0-25.0 gf cm/cm2; and the compression recovery rate is 40-95%."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 28, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/007367.
