MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321085456 A) filed by Amity University Chhattisgarh, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Dec. 14, 2023, for 'papercraft preparation from composites of banana stem pulp and composition thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Kush Kumar Nayak; Reecha Sahu; Varaprasad Kolla; Olibha Xalxo; Harsh Chhablani; and Prashasti Sangewar.
The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention describes papercraft preparation from composites of banana stem pulp and composition thereof. The present invention provides a sustainable and biodegradable alternative to traditional paper production. 7 The paper prototypes are made using readily available and cost-effective materials, including banana stem and grass. The use of biocompatible materials reduces environmental harm and eliminates the need for toxic chemicals in production. To produce the paper prototypes, the banana stem and grass are first harvested and dried in oven till there is no water content left. The fibers of Banana stem were cut into pieces using hands & grass were chopped using mixer grinder both were treated with different concentrations of NaOH."
