MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060544 A) filed by Vignan's Institute Of Information Technology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on June 25, for 'partial replacement of cement with biochar.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. K. Srinivas; Mr. Borigarla Barhmaiah; Mrs. S. Kranthi Vijaya; Mr. B. Abhishek; Mr. K. Sudheer Chandra; Ms. P. Chandralekha; and Ms. S. Gnaneswari.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Extensive research has explored the feasibility of using fibres to enhance concrete sustainability. The polyvinyl alcohol fibres are synthetic fibres. The enhancement of the properties of concrete by replace the cement in a minimal quantity. By the invention the enhanced properties are durability, compressive strength, permeability, etc. This invention aims that the changing and enhancement of physical and mechanical properties of concrete by adding and replacing this Poly vinyl alcohol fibres. By that the test results tells that the strength characteristics are changed comparative to the non fiber cubes and 12 mm fibers cubes and 6 mm fibers cubes. By that this innovation aims to tells that the enhancement of the strength and overall characteristics of the concrete."
