MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517058704 A) filed by Hafez, Mahmoud Alm El Din, Giza, Egypt, on June 18, for 'patient-matched and surgeon-specific single use surgical instruments system.'

Inventor(s) include Hafez, Mahmoud Alm El Din; Salem, Ahmed Abd Almoghny; and Ali, Ahmed Aboulfath Hassan.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system of patient-matched and surgeon-speci?c single use surgical instruments designed for five di?erent applications for knee replacement surgeries; primary total knee replacement, custom-made total knee replacement, revision total knee replacement, hinged total knee replacement and partial knee replacement. The system has patient-matched & surgeon-speci?c instruments are designed & prepared for each case based on patient's need and surgeon's demand. The system contains patient-matched set of blocks and guides, "On-Demand" surgeon-speci?c Instruments sets, conventional instruments sets, surgical planning software, 3D printing Software, 3D printers and sterilization unit. All the system components are manufactured by using 3D printing technologies."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 24, 2022, under International application No.PCT/EG2022/000033.
