MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641026314 A) filed by Srm Valliammai Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 6, for 'performance enhancement of bldc motor speed control using fuzzy logic and hall sensor position feedback.'
Inventor(s) include Ms. R. V. Preetha; Gokul Prasath M; Hemanth S; Jayapreetha S; and Manoj Kanna E.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Brush less DC (BLOC) motors are widely used in industrial automation, electric vehicles, and household appliances due to their high efficiency, reliability, and low maintenance. However, achieving precise and stable speed control under varying load conditions remains a significant challenge when using conventional control techniques. This project proposes an intelligent control approach to enhance the performance ofBLDC motor speed regulation by integniting a fuzzy logic controller with Hall sensor-based rotor position feedback. The Hall sensors provide accurate real-time rotor position information, enabling proper electronic commutation and improved dynamic response. The fuzzy logic controller is designed to handle nonlinearities and uncertainties in the motor system by processing speed error and change in error as linguistic variables. This approach eliminates the need for an exact mathematical model and improves robustness against parameter variations. The proposed system is implemented using an embedded control platform and evaluated under different operating conditions such as load disturbances and speed variations. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate reduced steady-state error, faster settling time, and improved stability compared to conventional PI controllers. Hence, the integration of fuzzy logic control with Hall sensorJeedback significantly enhances the overall performance and efficiency of BLDC motor speed control systems."
